i just wanted to drop a quick line to tell everyone we are still writing our new record. and yes, its taking us a little longer than we had anticipated but we'd rather write a good record than a shitty one. we dont know whether we will be done with the writing process in time for an '05 release, but the new songs so far are faster, harder and i can say with confidence its better than the old stuff. so hopefully you all wont forget about us. we ask you to be patient and still be with us when the time comes. and we are playing WARPED TOUR CHICAGO again this year too. unfortunately, i wont be able to play since i am the best man in my brother's wedding, so our good buddy Mook (the orginial drummer) will be taking my place. we also have lots of chicagoland shows coming up too so go to our website!

www.muchthesame.com

Jevin

Hey everybody, we're back from our touring and have some merchandise left over that we're making available on our web site, some of these have never been available online before so make sure you come over to our site and check this stuff out!

Also available (in very limited numbers) is our first EP, Caught Off Guard! We just found a few of them and since we're constantly asked about them we decided to sell them online for you die-hard fans.

Much The Same Online Catalog

Also on a side note, we are writing a lot of new songs right now for a new album and we're really excited about them. They are more diverse than the ones on our first record, and yet a lot more focused and definitely developing into a unique sound that we can call our own. But don't worry not much is changing from the sound you've grown to expect from us, we're just getting better at being ourselves! So when we start touring again we will be playing a couple new songs a night to test them out on you guys, so that when we record (hopefully in the summer) it will be the best possible album we can create.

Last but not least we do have 4 more shows in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan coming up, which will likely be our last shows outside Chicagoland of the year, but don't worry, we're working on a month-long tour in January right now.

Thu.
Tonight was our last show for the September tour. Tomorrow we are going to demo a couple new songs just for fun with our good friends in The Swellers. Sorry, we will probably not be putting this stuff out. This tour has had many ups and downs and though we' have had more good times than bad I am looking forward to laying in my bed and hanging out with my dog even if it is only for like a week before we leave again. I feel really bad because we forgot to mention our good friend Matt in Georgia who treated us very very well. Those steaks where awesome dude. I'd also like to thank the good people that run The Spot for letting us stay and practice last night. We finished one song and started 2 more. I'm really excited about the way our new songs are coming out and I can't wait to finish them and play them live. If you want to know how they sound all I can tell you is we're still playing fast. well it's about time to sleep since i really haven't like in two days. Thanks to all of you who put us up and came to our shows. It means the world.
peace, Franky

So tonight we had an awesome show in Evansville, IN after spending 3 days off at our friend Brooke Rockett's house. We had a good time at her house and she was very hospitable! But yeah the show was great, except for in the first 10 seconds of the first song, the kids went a little too wild (which is always a good thing) and knocked the mic into my mouth, chipping my front tooth. I'm not happy about this at all because I don't have dental insurance and now my tooth looks goofy. But oh well, at least it happened as a result of people loving my band, I guess I can't complain that much about it. .. Nah yes i can.

We've got 2 more shows left until we're home for 10 days, I'm excited about that, and then we go out with Blueprint 76 which should be a good time.

We've also got some chicagoland shows coming up for those of you in the area make sure to check out the site to find out about those!

See you all soon we hope!

Oh yeah, and we've been getting asked when we're going up to the northwest again, and the best I can say is, it looks like we'll be touring again in January.. not sure totally where but it's definitely possible we'll get out there. Keep an eye out we should know in the next few weeks!

Gunner

PS. Brooke says hi!

Ok, so it's been awile and I apologize for us not being on top of the whole posting thing. So let's see... In california I got a speading ticket and I was driving in the wrong lane, but as my boys in NWA would say "Fuck da police." Then in Huntington Beach went down to the beach till 5 in the morning where Danno and i put on a nature show where we invented our own animals. I guess you had to be there to see the humor in it. Then in Florida me and Dan went down to the beach where the Atlantic Ocean gave us quite a pummeling. By the way, this is not in chronological order. In Lubbock TX we went to a bar where Jevin was going up to these girls saying"Now I know what you're thinking, and yes, I am in a band." The fun part was that they couldn't speak english. But I think Jevin did a good job of bringing our two cultures together. Other than that it's been a whole lot of driving and reading. I however have a very impresive record for showering right now. I've managed to bathe everyday. So come talk to me at the shows cause I don't smell. well i guess that's all. I know Jevin's mom reads this thing sometimes so i would like to extend my love to her for getting us the hotel in Phoenix.
peace, Franky

we are in phoenix right now, we've been here since friday since our show in victorville was cancelled. on our day off last night we were lucky enough to see Face to Face. franky was very happy about this considering F2F is one of his favorite bands. the show on friday here was interesting. there were 4 people there, and i played probly the worst show of my life. during "wish" my entire hi-hat stand fell over. i think it was cuz dan was burning ants alive earlier at the flying j, and us playing a bad show was karma for making those things suffer. therefore franky has decided to build a shrine to the ant. the shows in iowa city and gallup were very cool. blythe from gallup and her mom showed us awesome hospitality by making us burgers and letting us crash. thanks for that. tonite we play with musical gods A Wilhelm Scream, its gonna be awesome seeing them again. hopefully the ant god will be kind to us. take er easy.

jevin

I also had the Pleasure of seeing Reel Big Fish and Alkaline Trio there all before they got to big for the joint. When i was told by Gunner I was going to get to play there my heart sored. It was such an amazing piece of not only Chicago punk history, but it gives me the fondest memories of my youth. When i think of the Chicago venues, it will always be the one I call home. Thank you fireside for being a very happy 8 years of my life, and thanks to all who came to our shows there and sang with us. I'll never forget.
Peace, Franky

Toledo show was cancelled due to some kind of mixup with our agency. Bummer. Luckily we were still near my girlfriend's house so now we're back and all 4 of us went jetskiing this time. Tonight, grilling and the hottub, tomorrow, tubing. Best 2 days off on tour, ever.

Sorry to those of you who were coming tonight, we had no idea until a few hours before the show. Good thing we called ahead.. we'll see you all soon (or you could just drive to cleveland if you're that upset about it!)

Gunner

The last couple shows have been pretty cool.. Saginaw, MI was a lot of fun.. too many bands in my opinion (8 or 9!) but a good number of good ones so that makes it all worth it. Thanks to everyone who rocked out with us at that show and make sure to check out a band called The Swellers, who are from Flint, I believe. Great band.

After that show we drove to my girlfriend's farm which was on the way to our next show.. it was nice to sleep in beds and then go jetskiing on their lake. Danno and I had tons of fun while Jevin and Franky wussed out. And of course it's wonderful to see my girlfriend for the second time on this tour, definitely helps keep me sane.

Then we drove to Elkhart, IN where we played in a barn and nobody knew we were going to be there. Luckily we surprised some people and had a good show overall. Just as my voice is finally coming back from being blown out at warped tour, i'm starting to get sick. My nose is running non-stop.. what fun.

Tonight we play in Toledo.. we've had some great shows there before but it's been a while so hopefully they haven't forgotten about us.

That's it for me, over and out.

Gunner

jevin here with danno at a flying j at 3:30 in the morn in the butthole of the U.S. (ohio). the show tonite was bunk. it was an insult to music. 3 bands, plus much the same, and lets say people were not exactly there to see us. the local "screamo/noise" bands played to their special lady friends, and then packed up and left. thanks turds. we still had fun tho, even if no one liked us. [gunner's note: we should make it clear that the first 2 bands weren't cool at all and the last band, who booked the show, while nice kids, weren't a real band as far as i could tell and were just messing around and screaming.. and according to their own livejournal did not even try to promote the show until the day before, hence the lame night.]

dan is a happy man cuz charter cigarettes are only $1.85, so he can stop rolling his own of the 'southern specials'(confederate tobacco). we all had some drinks today at an irish pub while goonbier made copies. we met a nice bartender named samantha who gave dan a cigarette, and soda bread was had by all. erik got drunk again and showed her his zorch. just kidding. we are done with warped tour now, which is kind of a bummer, but also cool. we were able to hang out with the shira girls in their rv in columbus. that was awesome. frank played with fallout boy and jumped around. he wont ever play in an amphitheatre again moooooooohahahahahahahaha.

for the record, johnstown, pa was the most fun so far on the tour. who thought formal dance parties could be fun. you rock j-town. to everyone who bought our cd or watched us at warped tour, thank you for making this all worthwhile. you are all sweethearts and dan loves you. i dont.

love,

jevy and danny

i am sitting in a house somewhere in new jersey enjoying our first day off from warped tour. all of the shows have been awesome and we have been meeting new fans everywhere we go. touring life so far hasnt been too exciting. we have to be at each warped tour date at 8am so we can get a good tent spot, so we are mostly just playing and selling cds during the day and then driving all night. some memorable experiences have been 1) watching poker backstage featuring Fat Mike, Matt Shadows, Warren Fitzgerald, Jay bentley and that singer of Yellowcard. M. Shadows was the big victor one night winning $1200 on one hand. 2) gunner blowing his voice out (he told me to write that, but thats not too exciting) 3) franky driving thru New York City. the dude sucks at driving, that simple. he gets off highways for no reason. 4) having anti-flag watch us in NY. that was the first time i really talked to Justin and Pat, and it was very cool that they took the time to come and see us. 5) the bbqs backstage after warped tour have been awesome. thats all i can really say about it. a tip for a meal is a good tradeoff.

tomorrow we head to hershey for the last show on the ernie ball stage. i heard the city smells like chocolate. stoked on that euuuuuuude. laaaaaaate.

Jevin
(AkA Jarvis the Dolphin)

i know Gunner already wrote extensively on our warped tour experience, but man, that chicago show was the most insane thing i've ever experienced. i know i'm the new guy and everything, but i've been dreaming of playing on warped tour since i was 16, and to be able to get the response we've been getting at all the shows and meeting all the fans has been great. the chicago show was insane cuz the crowd was singing so loud during "wish" i actually fucked up cuz i got lost in the singing. sorry about that, i didnt have my best show. signing your cds, posters, hats, drumsticks was so humbling and weird (since i still kinda consider myself a fan). you guys make everything we do worthwhile and keep our spirits up to keep doing this for as long as we can. so again, thank you for making me feel welcome.

Jevin

Well the Chicago Warped Tour date was incredible to say the least.. and not just for us, a lot of our friends' bands were extatic about it.. so many awesome kids, perfect weather.. it's gonna be hard to match.

The day started of a little rocky when we found out we weren't scheduled to play.. and that the kind folks at the Uproar/Myspace stage added us onto their slot as a favor. Luckily Kevin Lyman (the guy who runs Warped) helped us out and gave us a perfect time slot on the stage we were supposed to play originally, so that was great!

Eventually it came time to play and we couldn't have been happier with the turnout.. so many old friends and new ones out there to watch us, singing along, going as crazy as we were.. it made us very happy to get to play Chicago again. The stage security was pretty light, just a few people standing between the crowd and the stage, and they were quite unprepared for the pit that took place! Near the end of the set it looked like the security guards might need some help of their own as the crowd smashed them into the stage and eventually started climbing on and stagediving. I always get a little nervous about that because I don't know how the security will react and I'd hate to see anyone get hurt, but everything was fine and it was just an amazing display of love from our hometown. A little added bonus was that when I went back to see Break The Silence on the same stage later that day, there was a full metal barricade put up thanks to us! Pretty awesome!

One other cool thing worth mentioning is that in the VIP area they set up a laser tag course where it looked like they were playing bands vs. fans.. i don't know where the heck that came from but I know I saw Kevin Lyman and dudes from a couple headlining bands in there shooting it out with the kids.. so that was cool.

I hope everyone had nearly as good of a time at Warped as we did and we're definitely looking forward to doing more! See you then..

Gunner

Thanks so much to everyone who came and watched us play, all of us were super excited to have you all there with us..

Wow. We just got home from our first short bit of the Warped Tour in St. Louis and Indianapolis and there are so many things I could talk about.. but the primary thing on my mind is: that was a lot more physical labor than I was expecting.. haha =) Actually though despite the intense heat, sweating, sore muscles, sunburn, etc. it is still a really awesome experience and I am very happy to be a part of it, especially on a year with some of the best all time punk rock bands. I'm glad to have a day to rest before playing in Chicago, though, so I can really give it my all. Then we've got a week to get totally back up to speed before we head out to the east coast.

Some bands I reccommend seeing if you get a chance are.. (excuse me if some of these are obvious)

NOFX - My favorite band and still the one band that I can enjoy live 100% every time I see them because every show is different and funny and they have so many songs to choose from that it's never boring. This year I was surprised to hear them playing some unusual songs from Punk In Drublic: Perfect Government, Reeko, and Scavenger Type (different version you hear on the album). There were a lot of other good ones as well like Stickin' In My Eye and Franco Unamerican. I can't remember the others right now but they were great as usual.

Bad Religion - One of the oldest punk rock bands still playing and still one of the best, by far.

Rise Against - Another amazing band who happens to be from Chicago. If you've never heard these guys yet you need to make sure to check them out.

Anti-Flag - Whether you like their politics or not they always put on a really intense live show and I personally love their new record so it's always rad to hear them playing this stuff.

Break The Silence - Melodic hardcore like nobody else is doing it. Whether you like NOFX or Avenged Sevenfold or Thrice, these guys will blow your mind.

Over It, Don't Look Down, Staring Back - 3 really amazing melodic punk bands that are all good friends of ours and definitely not to be missed.

That's enough promoting for me for one day =) It has been great meeting so many new fans and we can't wait to meet more of you as the days go by. Please find the A-F Records tent (it's a white tent that says.. A-F RECORDS haha).. this is different from the Anti-Flag tent and may not be located in the same place as theirs, so look around for it. We have lots of shirts, stickers, pins, and of course CDs for you to pick up =) And there's always someone from the band hanging out so that's the perfect time to say hello!

Well it's 3:30am and I've had very little sleep the past 3 days so I'm off to bed now. See you soon!
